In line with the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope Administration to address the shortage of decent and comfortable accommodation for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Federal Government remains resolute in its vision of ensuring that the nation's uniformed men and women enjoy the dignity of quality accommodation.
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON, stated this on Thursday in Nyanya, Abuja, while serving as the Special Guest of Honour at the commissioning of a Block of 20 X One-Bedroom Staff Accommodation constructed by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
The Honourable Minister noted that the accommodations would not only enhance the quality of life of staff and personnel but also significantly boost their morale, operational efficiency and commitment to duty.
Describing the initiative as a laudable intervention, the Honourable Minister stated that, "Accommodation remains one of the most critical needs of our personnel and staff. A comfortable accommodation is not a luxury but a necessity. It provides peace of mind, enhances morale, and improves efficiency as well as dedication to duty. It is for these reasons that I commend the Chief of Defence Intelligence for this laudable initiative. It is worthy of note that the Agency has continued to record remarkable achievements under his capable leadership."
HM Matawalle expressed profound appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his support and commitment to strengthening the welfare and operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces.
According to the Honourable Minister, the milestones recorded by the Defence Intelligence Agency would not have been possible without the steadfast support of Mr. President.
The Minister further disclosed that, in his capacity as the Supervising Minister of the Defence Intelligence Agency, he reassured the Agency of his continuous support and that of the Ministry of Defence in advancing its mandate.
He also charged the beneficiaries and occupants of the newly commissioned accommodation to ensure its proper maintenance, stressing that preserving the facility would guarantee its longevity and continued service to personnel.
Following the commissioning ceremony, the Honourable Minister formally unveiled the facility by cutting the ceremonial tape and subsequently conducted an inspection of the remodelled accommodation.
In his remarks, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt. Gen. Undiandeye, expressed appreciation to the Honourable Minister for personally commissioning the Staff Accommodation and sharing in the joy of the beneficiaries. He described the Minister's physical presence as a clear demonstration of his commitment to the welfare of Defence Intelligence Agency personnel.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence also conveyed his profound gratitude and appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his continued support to the Defence Intelligence Agency. He further reaffirmed, on behalf of the Management and Personnel of the Agency, their unwavering loyalty and commitment to the service of the nation.
Also present at the event were the Coordinator, Defence Intelligence Agency Officers Wives Association, Mrs. Jane Undiyandeye, Directors of the Agency, Senior Military and Civilian Staff of the Agency, the Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs), Soldiers, and Junior Staff of the Agency.
