Kebbi Governor's Wife Flags Off Distribution Of RUTF/Ton Brown Commodities

The Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris, has flagged off the distribution of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF)/Ton Brown commodities under a programme implemented by the Kebbi State Government in collaboration with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and Jhpiego. The flag-off ceremony took place at the Malaria Control Unit in Birnin Kebbi.

Speaking at the event, which contained in a statement signed by Press Secretary to the Wife of the Governor, Binta Abdulhamid, said Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris commended the administration of Governor Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), the Kebbi State Ministry of Health, and development partners for their sustained commitment to improving the health and well-being of women and children across the state.

She noted that the intervention would help combat malnutrition among children and promote healthier living. She urged mothers and caregivers to ensure the proper use of the nutritional commodities to achieve the desired objectives.

In his address, the Commissioner for Health, Hon. Sama'ila Yakubu Augie, expressed appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris and Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris for their unwavering support and commitment to strengthening the state's healthcare system. He described Governor Idris as a leader who places high priority on the health sector.

In their goodwill messages, the Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad, alongside representatives of UNICEF and Jhpiego, disclosed that the distribution would cover eight general hospitals located in Aliero, Augie, Argungu, Bunza, Shanga, Gwandu, Koko/Besse, and Bagudo Local Government Areas. They assured that the commodities would reach the intended beneficiaries and be effectively utilized.

Also speaking, the Wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Hajiya Asma'u Alkali, called on families and communities to support the initiative in order to improve the health of women and children across the state.

The event according to the statement was attended by the wives of commissioners, wives of members of the State House of Assembly, medical practitioners, the SDGs Focal Person, representatives of the NANAS Foundation, members of the Elders Forum, and other dignitaries.

Highlights of the ceremony included the symbolic presentation of the commodities to representatives of the benefiting local government areas and entertainment.
