With Zamfara State now receiving ₦28 billion monthly from the Federation Account, this should mark the beginning of a new era of strategic planning and economic transformation. It is an opportunity for the state's leadership to invest aggressively in developing our abundant natural resources, modernising agriculture, and establishing manufacturing industries, no matter how modest their initial scale.

These are the productive sectors capable of creating jobs, stimulating economic growth, expanding the state's revenue base and reducing dependence on monthly federal allocations. They are the foundations upon which prosperous and self-reliant economies are built.

Unfortunately, there is a real danger that this unprecedented increase in revenue could encourage greater dependence on easy federal allocations while the long-term development projects are neglected. Such an approach would sacrifice sustainable growth for short-term convenience, leaving future generations with little to inherit beyond continued dependence.

Zamfara must seize this rare opportunity to diversify its economy, strengthen local production and build a future where the state can stand on its own economic strength rather than rely almost entirely on allocations from the Federation Account.

May this increased allocation become a blessing that drives lasting development and prosperity, not a curse that deepens dependency and undermines the future of our state.
