Abuja, Sept. 23, 2026 (NAN) Federal Government Staff Housing Loan Board says it has recorded major achievements in housing delivery, loan access, digital reforms and worker welfare over three years across federal public service.
The information was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja by Obiechina Ngozi, Head of Information, FGSHLB.
The Board said the achievements were recorded through reforms, strategic partnerships, expanded loan opportunities and housing projects aimed at improving workers’ welfare.
It said more than 1,500 public servants had benefited from various housing loan windows for house purchase, renovation and building over the period.
The Board said loan ceilings for federal workers across different cadres and levels of service had also been reviewed upward to increase access to housing finance.
In 2024, the Head of the Civil Service commissioned and handed over 116 two-bedroom bungalows at the FISH Estate to core civil servants.
The Board said the estate was fully funded by FGSHLB.
It added that more affordable housing estates were lined up for commissioning at Karshi, Kuje and Mararaba, while a groundbreaking ceremony for 266 flats was expected to take place at Wasa, Apo, Abuja.
The Board said another major achievement was the introduction of digital application and processing systems to simplify access to housing loans.
It said applicants could now complete and submit applications online through www.fgshlb.gov.ng, reducing delays and eliminating the involvement of middlemen in the application process.
The Board also highlighted its partnerships with housing developers, financial institutions and government agencies to expand affordable housing opportunities for federal workers.
It recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) under the Federal Government’s approved N10 billion housing loan scheme for federal workers.
The Board said, in partnership with Family Homes Funds, it had taken over completed and uncompleted blocks of flats in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, and Lagos State for allocation to interested federal public servants.
It also disclosed that it was collaborating with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to facilitate the recovery of outstanding housing loans and strengthen financial accountability.
The Board said its collaboration with private developers had encouraged greater participation in housing delivery while supporting construction and related economic activities.
In 2025, FGSHLB recruited 38 junior staff members to strengthen its workforce and improve service delivery to federal public workers.
The Board said it had also intensified sensitisation and financial literacy programmes through workshops, exhibitions, stakeholder engagements and awareness campaigns across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
According to the Board, the initiatives were designed to help workers understand mortgage obligations, home financing and long-term financial planning.
It said the achievements recorded over the past three years reflected its commitment to improving access to affordable housing and strengthening the welfare of federal workers.
The Board added that ongoing reforms, partnerships and housing investments would further enhance its capacity to deliver housing solutions to federal public servants nationwide.
