In a letter dated September 6, 2026, Tilde said his resignation takes effect immediately. He blamed a breakdown in “mutual respect, communication and trust” between him and the senator.
The exit comes at a time the senator is facing fresh allegations linking him to banditry and terrorism.
The allegations resurfaced after videos circulated on social media claiming suspected bandit kingpins visited the senator’s residence. Senator Buba has denied the claims, calling them “fabricated, politically motivated” and a smear campaign. He said legal action has been taken against those behind it.
In his resignation letter, Tilde did not link his decision to the banditry allegations.
Instead, he pointed to being sidelined. He cited a recent visit by the senator to his ward where a meeting with residents was held without informing him.
“Given my position and my connection to the people of the ward, I found this deeply disrespectful and hurtful,” Tilde wrote. “I believe that, at the very least, I deserved to be informed and carried along.”
The former aide said such incidents made it impossible to continue.
“I cannot continue in a position where I feel that there is little regard for my contributions,” he stated.
Tilde said political service should be built on “mutual respect, communication, trust, and recognition.”
“I no longer feel that these principles exist in our working relationship,” he added.
He described his resignation as “the most honourable decision” and thanked the senator for the opportunity to serve.
