Zamfara @30: Why We Must Not Forget Mande Tsafe And Other Founders - Kabiru Mande

As Zamfara State marks 30 years of its creation alongside Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary, the House of Representatives hopeful for Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, under the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP) Honourable Kabiru Mande Tsafe, has felicitated with Nigerians while questioning the state government for failing to honour the founding fathers of the state.

Kabiru Mande Tsafe, a prominent politician and a leading figure in Zamfara Central politics, is one of the sons of the founding fathers who struggled for the creation of Zamfara State. His late father, Alhaji Mande Tsafe, was among the frontline activists and elders who championed the agitation that led to the creation of the state.

Zamfara State was created on October 1st, 1996, by the late military Head of State, General Sani Abacha, out of the old Sokoto State, following years of sustained agitation, lobbying and sacrifice by prominent sons and daughters of the area who desired development closer to the people.

In his Independence Day message to commemorate the double celebration, Hon. Kabiru Tsafe said it was regrettable that 30 years after the creation of the state, those who laboured for its creation are being forgotten.

Recalling his earlier position on the matter, Kabiru Tsafe insisted that every anniversary celebration of the creation of Zamfara State must involve the people who fought for it.

"Kabiru Mande Tsafe argued that every anniversary celebration of the creation of Zamfara State should involve the people who fought for it. And where they are no longer alive, their families should be invited and honored in their place," he had earlier stated in an interview with The Spectacles.

The Reps aspirant also took a swipe at what he described as the failure to properly honour the founding fathers of the state, saying their sacrifices and contributions to the political and socio-economic development of Zamfara should not be allowed to go into oblivion.

He said, "It is painful that as we celebrate 30 years of Zamfara State, the government has not deemed it fit to include and honour our founding fathers, especially on this historic day of celebrating Zamfara's 30 years of creation. Their names and labour should never be forgotten."

Despite the criticism, Kabiru Mande Tsafe congratulated the people of Gusau and Tsafe Federal Constituency, the entire Zamfara State and Nigeria at large on the dual milestone.

He paid tribute to his loyal supporters and party faithful, saying their resolute dedication, patience and firm belief in his vision for a better and more prosperous Zamfara remain his greatest source of inspiration.

Describing Gusau/Tsafe as the political heartbeat of Zamfara State, Tsafe noted that the constituency has always been the engine of commerce, farming, culture and political leadership in the North-West.

He reassured the electorate that if elected to represent Gusau/Tsafe in the House of Representatives in 2027, he would champion robust legislative bills and initiatives that will uplift traders and farmers, empower youths and women, and restore sustainable economic growth to the area.

He further called on the people to remain peaceful, law-abiding and united, stressing that the challenges of today, including banditry and kidnapping affecting parts of Zamfara, are temporary, but the resolve to build a stronger and more secure state is permanent.

"Happy 66th Independence Anniversary to Gusau/Tsafe, Zamfara State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. May God bless Zamfara State and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria," he concluded.
