The war of words between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has taken a new twist.
Wike on Tuesday fired back at Governor Lawal for calling him ‘that guy’ during a recent interview, saying he was the one who actually chased the governor out of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Speaking at his monthly media parley in Abuja, the former Rivers State governor did not hold back. He boasted that despite Lawal's enormous wealth, he could not stand his political heat in the PDP.
Wike said, “Ask the governor of Zamfara State. When he was in PDP, I chased him away. He had money. They couldn't withstand me.”
The minister went further to allege that Lawal was not just spending his own money but was also keeping money for someone else.
“He had money plus other money I heard he was keeping for somebody. Ask him, he ran away from PDP,” Wike added.
The FCT Minister said it was ironic that the same Dauda Lawal who accused him of destroying the PDP to work for the All Progressives Congress, APC, has now defected to the ruling party himself.
“And I did him a favour. He now came to APC. Meanwhile, this was one of the governors who said I was killing the PDP for APC. The same person now run to APC,” Wike said.
Governor Dauda Lawal recently dumped the PDP for the APC, a move that has triggered fresh political arguments in the opposition party, with many stakeholders blaming Wike for the crisis rocking the PDP.
