The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held a public engagement program titled “GASKIYA BATA NEMAN ADO” meaning “Truth Needs No Decoration”, at the Radio Nigeria Pride F.M Gusau, as part of efforts to mobilize support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event was led by the State PDP Chairman, Zilfikar Auwal Tambaya of Tsafe, in collaboration with the party’s governorship candidate, Engineer Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, popularly known as Bakauye.
Speaking at the program, the State PDP Publicity Secretary, Kabirudeen Muhammad, said the party was witnessing a massive influx of supporters across the 14 local government areas.
“Wherever a gathering is held in Zamfara today, you will see that PDP supporters are in the majority. This shows clearly that the people are returning to the PDP,” he said.
Dignitaries present at the event included the State Chairman, Zilfikar Auwal Tambaya Tsafe; the Publicity Secretary, Kabirudeen Muhammad; the PDP Chairman of Kaura Namoda LGA, Alhaji Nasir Kaura; and the PDP Chairman of Bungudu LGA, Hon. Abdullahi Salmanu Kwatarkwashi.
The PDP Chairman of Kaura Namoda LGA, Alhaji Nasir Kaura, said the party had received unprecedented acceptance in his area.
He expressed confidence that the PDP would secure double the votes it recorded in previous elections in 2027, God willing.
According to him, the people are now looking for a candidate with integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness. “By the grace of God, Engineer Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye has emerged as our candidate. If elected, he will not deceive the people.
We voted for the first one and he deceived us. We voted for the second one and he deceived us. That is why we have done thorough research this time before settling for someone like Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye. I assure you there will be change in both rural and urban areas if he becomes governor,” he said.
Also speaking, the PDP Chairman of Bungudu LGA, Hon. Abdullahi Salmanu Kwatarkwashi, said the people of Bungudu had embraced the PDP fully, including youths, women, men, and widows.
“In the last election we gave 45,000 votes to a governor who deceived us. Now, with full trust in Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye, we will give him double the votes we gave before,” he stated.
He added that the PDP came to Bungudu at a time when residents were struggling with hardship and had nowhere to turn.
“This PDP is not the PDP of the past. The PDP is the mother party. This time around, Alhamdulillah, it has presented credible people with principles and integrity,” he said.
Kwatarkwashi criticized what he described as misplaced priorities by the current administration, saying: “All over the world in democracy, the people come first. How can you leave people hungry and go and build roads? Will the roads feed them? That is not democracy, that is selfishness.”
He recalled his role as Secretary General of the “Kwatarkwashi Foundation Forum”, saying the group worked to assist IDPs without government support and later received assistance from Engineer Bakauye.
“He is a rural man who understands rural problems. Anytime there is a condolence, he does not rest until he sends representatives. If not Bakauye, who else can do that?
If PDP had not fielded someone like him, the party would not even be considered in Zamfara today,” he said.
In his closing remarks, Alhaji Nasir Kaura said while Gusau currently has the governor, other LGAs are praying for “our brother Bakauye” to emerge in 2027.
The program ended with a call-in session where listeners commended the initiative, offered prayers, and gave positive testimonies about Engineer Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye, expressing optimism about his candidacy.
