Zamfara State PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Engineer Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, popularly known as Bakauye, has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly attacks on Bardoki in Gummi Local Government and Bunkasau in Bukkuyum Local Government that left several people dead, many injured, and hundreds displaced.
In a condolence message issued on Monday, Bakauye described the incident as a painful reminder of the security challenges confronting the state. He extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and to give their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
The gubernatorial candidate also prayed for the quick recovery of those receiving treatment, especially patients on admission at the Hospital. He paid tribute to members of the Civilian Joint Task Force who lost their lives while responding to distress calls in Bunkasau, noting that their sacrifice in defense of the communities will not be forgotten.
Bakauye said the repeated attacks on rural communities have crippled farming, trade, and education, and with the harvest season approaching, the displacement of farmers poses a serious threat to food security in Zamfara.
He called on government and security agencies to intensify operations, strengthen intelligence gathering, and ensure a permanent security presence in vulnerable communities to prevent further loss of lives. He further urged humanitarian agencies and well-meaning individuals to urgently provide food, shelter, medical care, and other relief materials to displaced persons currently taking refuge in Gummi and Bukkuyum.
The PDP candidate prayed to Allah to bring an end to banditry and all forms of violence in the state, and to restore lasting peace, unity, and stability to Gummi, Bukkuyum, and other affected communities across Zamfara.
