It will be recalled that in our earlier press statement published by The Spectacles on October 1st, 2026, titled "Zamfara @30: Why We Must Not Forget Mande Tsafe And Other Founders", we had openly called on the state government to remember and honour the elders and heroes who fought tirelessly for the creation of Zamfara State.
In that statement, Hon. Kabiru Mande Tsafe, himself a son of one of the founding fathers, the late Alhaji Mande Tsafe, lamented that 30 years after the creation of the state from old Sokoto State in 1996, the sacrifices of those who championed the agitation were being forgotten.
We had argued that every anniversary celebration must involve the people who fought for the creation of the state, and where they are no longer alive, their families should be invited and honoured in their place.
Today, we are happy to announce that the government of Zamfara State under His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, has responded positively to that patriotic call.
The state government has presented Certificates of Honour to the founding fathers and heroes of the Zamfara creation struggle, in recognition of their selfless service, sacrifice and contribution to the existence of our dear state.
This action is highly commendable and has proven that Governor Dauda Lawal has listened to our call for valuing history and respects those who laid the foundation for the state we are all enjoying today.
We, therefore, on behalf of Hon. Kabiru Mande Tsafe and the entire families of the Zamfara Founding Fathers, wish to sincerely thank His Excellency for this historic honour. This singular act has revived the hope of many families and has ensured that the labour of our heroes will never be forgotten.
We urge the government to sustain this spirit and continue to include the families of the founding fathers in all state functions.
May Zamfara State continue to prosper.
