Idris, who is being sued for divorce, alleged that Gumi has kept his wife for nearly 11 months.
He made the allegation in an interview with RFI Hausa on Friday.
He claimed they met Gumi at a pharmacy in Kaduna, after which the cleric asked him to bring his wife for counselling. “From then on, whenever I called, she did not answer,” he said.
Gumi has denied the claim. Speaking to _Daily Trust_, he said Mrs Idris ran to his residence with his wife, also Moroccan, to escape alleged domestic violence.
Mrs Idris instituted a divorce suit in June 2025 at the Upper Sharia Court, Daura Road, Kaduna through the Women Aware of Rights Initiative, WARI.
Court documents show she accused Idris of domestic violence, financial abuse, denial of maintenance, and forced prohibited sexual acts.
She also alleged he infected her with STDs, seized her international passport, and lied about his marital history.
She said she fled her matrimonial home out of fear and sought shelter with Gumi and his wife because they were her only acquaintances in Nigeria.
Her prayers include dissolution of the marriage, return of her passport and belongings, and permission to return to Morocco.
In a trending video, Gumi accused Idris of exploiting legal loopholes to delay judgement. He said he was summoned alongside others for “criminal conspiracy” but insisted there was nothing criminal in offering her shelter.
Gumi also alleged bias by the Sharia judge and claimed Idris misrepresented his finances to marry outside his means.
The matter remains before the court.
